Frequently Asked Questions
At Advantage Chiropractic, we believe that informed patients make the best health decisions. Below, we have compiled the most common questions regarding our neurologically focused approach, our specialized techniques, and the logistics of our New Berlin office.
General Chiropractic Questions
How does chiropractic care actually work?
Chiropractic care is based on the relationship between your spine and your nervous system. Your spine protects your spinal cord, which is the “master controller” of every cell and organ in your body. When spinal misalignments (subluxations) occur, they create interference in your nervous system. Our job is to identify and remove that interference, allowing your brain and body to communicate at 100%.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes. Clinical studies consistently show that chiropractic care is one of the safest, non-invasive, and drug-free forms of healthcare available. Our use of the Torque Release Technique (TRT) makes care even safer by eliminating the need for forceful manual twisting or “cracking.”
Should I see my medical doctor before a chiropractor?
While we frequently collaborate with primary care physicians and specialists, you do not need a referral to see us. Chiropractors are primary-contact healthcare providers. If your condition requires medical intervention outside our scope of practice (such as surgery or emergency care), we will immediately refer you to the appropriate specialist.
Can chiropractic help with issues other than back pain?
Yes. Because the nervous system controls everything—including digestion, immune response, and respiratory function—removing nerve interference often improves overall systemic health. While we focus on the spine, our goal is to optimize your entire body.
Torque Release Technique (TRT) FAQs
What makes TRT different from traditional chiropractic?
The torque release technique is a neurologically based technique. Instead of using manual force to “move a bone,” we use a specialized, FDA-cleared instrument called the Integrator. This allows us to deliver a high-speed, gentle impulse that “tunes” your nervous system without any twisting or popping of the joints.
Does the adjustment hurt?
Not at all. Most patients describe the TRT adjustment as a light, localized “tap.” Because it is so gentle, it is the preferred method for infants, seniors, and patients in acute pain who may be nervous about traditional manual adjustments.
Neuropathy Program FAQs
Can you really help with peripheral neuropathy?
Yes. Our Advantage Neuropathy Program is a 4-part restorative protocol that goes beyond symptom masking. We utilize TRT to remove nerve interference, combined with clinical nutrition and FDA-cleared light therapy to stimulate circulation and support nerve recovery.
How long does it take to see results?
Neurological healing is a process, not an event. While many patients notice a reduction in burning or tingling within the first few weeks, significant restorative changes typically occur over a 90-day clinical cycle.
New Patient & Office Logistics
What happens on my first visit?
Your initial visit is dedicated to discovery. We perform a 54-Point Neurological Evaluation and take precision digital X-rays (if indicated). We want to understand the “why” behind your pain before we begin treatment. Your personalized Report of Findings and first adjustment typically follow on your second visit.
How long are the appointments?
Your first evaluation takes 30-60 minutes. Follow-up visits for your adjustments are highly efficient, typically lasting 5-10 minutes, making it easy to fit into a busy workday.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Workers’ Compensation. Our team will perform a Complimentary Benefit Verification on your first visit so you know exactly what your coverage looks like before you start care.
